A Sarasota resident since 1996 Ms. Bociek had suffered for years from disabling pain and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. After exhausting Western medical treatment she turned to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. She has since been living drug and pain free. This personal experience gives her a unique understanding of the physical, mental and financial toll an illness can take.
A native of Massachusetts, Kim Bociek received her B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her medical education continued at the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota where she received her Masters degree in Oriental Medicine and is now a Board Certified Acupuncture Physician. may I take a little of your time to tell you a little of my story? If you answered yes, read on. My introduction to acupuncture was due to a traumatic accident about twenty-two years ago. I injured my left neck/shoulder/arm and sciatic nerve in 1993 so I could not work as an EMT because I could not lift any thing heavier than a loaf of bread. After trying allopathic medicine for a year, the doctors told me that I would never heal so just learn to live with what left arm and leg movement remained. That's when I decided to try massage school. My injuries did start to heal with daily treatments over a years time but I wanted more pain relief and more strength in my arm and leg so I did more research and decided to start acupuncture school. That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Not only did my left arm and leg get well and pain free, (the muscles that had atrophied returned to their pre injury size) and best of all my pain was gone! The biggest blessing of all was that I found my life's passion. I became an acupuncturist and herbalist to share this healing art with my family and friends. The methods used at my practice are aimed toward giving the body synergism—not just treating symptoms temporarily or numbing pain with numerous medications. I strive to help the body heal itself from within, by treating the root and not just the branch of a problem. I use a wide variety of modalities that best serve the individual needs of the patient: acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, herbal formulas, Tui Na (Asian Bodywork), and Kinesiotaping. Dr. Kimberly Burger began attending acupuncture school in 1994 and graduated from The Academy of Advanced Complimentary Medicine in 1998 with a PhD in acupuncture and homeopathic medicine. Dr. Burger received clinical hours attending an acupuncture school in Columbo, SriLanka. With additional training in Dr. Tans Balance Method, Master Tung style and theory of acupuncture, interning with Dr. Chow Chen, certification in Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture and Macular Degeneration treatments to reverse and prevent continued degeneration of advancing eye diseases, Dr. Burger has a well rounded education with 29 years of clinical experience in the Chinese medical field of Traditional and Pre-Traditional Chinese Medicine.
