After working the past 20 years as an Occupational Therapist in a variety of healthcare settings from hospital based rehabilitation clinics to home care service, I became interested in approaching healing from a different perspective in order to help people become empowered about their health on all levels. I found acupuncture to resonate with my belief that medicine should be judged in terms of how effective it is in understanding and treating the problem as the patient experiences it.

Sheri DePetro is a licensed acupuncturist and a licensed social worker. Utilizing both conventional and complementary medicine, her private practice provides both behavioral health and acupuncture. A national trainer for NADA, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, she has been an adjunct faculty member at Maryland University of Integrative Health, formerly Tai Sophia Institute, for 11 years. She was one of the first social worker’s in the state of Maryland to become an Auricular Detoxification Specialist. Her specialties are spiritual health, behavioral health, trauma, addictions, disabilities, stress management and pain management. Sheri considers herself to be a practitioner in life and has studied healing with indigenous and native peoples from around the globe for the past 20 years.

I have been in practice for 10 years and have experience treating all types of orthopedic and musculoskeletal pain, headaches and migraines, allergies, insomnia, digestive and hormonal conditions, anxiety, depression, and autoimmune disorders. As a licensed Acupuncturist, Melinda blends the best of both eastern and western medicine. In addition to her education and clinical experience, Melinda spent over a decade training doctors in medical devices and robotic surgical technology. As a result, she has an excellent foundation and appreciation for western medicine, while recognizing the importance of comprehensive, integrative care for patients. Compelled by helping others, she made the decision to leave her career and become a healthcare provider herself. Melinda chose the field of Acupuncture because it gives her the unique opportunity to provide personalized, holistic, patient-centered care.

During her 3 years of training, she completed clinical internships at Massachusetts General Hospital, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Cambridge Health Alliance, MCPHS University, and Element Care Senior Clinic. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine.
