Welcome to the Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine branch of the Abiding Spirit Center, where we provide holistic health care to the community. We serve McHenry County, Kane County, Lake County, and Cook County, including the communities of Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Elgin, Carpentersville, Cary, Woodstock, Barrington and Huntley, as well as other nearby cities.

Karen is a graduate of the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago and received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Illinois as well as a National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) certified herbalist. She is also a certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS) and provides ear acupuncture as a part of a comprehensive model of care to help with addictions, PTSD, and behavioral health. She graduated from Yo San University (Los Angeles, CA) in 2015 with a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is currently enrolled at Yo San to complete her Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Since 2001 Marcelle has been a professional bodyworker, beginning as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) she spent the better part of a decade working in some of Southern California's premiere spas and wellness centers, and had the privilege of teaching Swedish massage for three years. She also studied a variety of vibrational healing techniques such as Reiki and Medical QiGong. Marcelle's background in bodywork and massage pairs well with acupuncture, and she is very experienced in a variety of techniques to help you stop chasing pain. Her treatments specialize in pain management, herbal medicine, and cosmetic acupuncture.
