may I take a little of your time to tell you a little of my story? If you answered yes, read on. My introduction to acupuncture was due to a traumatic accident about twenty-two years ago. I injured my left neck/shoulder/arm and sciatic nerve in 1993 so I could not work as an EMT because I could not lift any thing heavier than a loaf of bread. After trying allopathic medicine for a year, the doctors told me that I would never heal so just learn to live with what left arm and leg movement remained. That's when I decided to try massage school. My injuries did start to heal with daily treatments over a years time but I wanted more pain relief and more strength in my arm and leg so I did more research and decided to start acupuncture school. That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Not only did my left arm and leg get well and pain free, (the muscles that had atrophied returned to their pre injury size) and best of all my pain was gone! The biggest blessing of all was that I found my life's passion. I became an acupuncturist and herbalist to share this healing art with my family and friends. Fannie’s passion for Eastern medicine can be traced back to her roots as a third-generation Chinese immigrant in the Philippines, where she grew up surrounded by food infused with herbal medicine thanks to her mother and grandmothers. She has spent a lifetime integrating the best of Eastern and Western cultures, and finally discovered that Chinese medicine provided a perfect home for her inquisitive mind and free spirit.

Fannie specializes in the areas of acute and chronic myofascial pain conditions, women’s health (including fertility), and anxiety disorders. She has a strong interest in food cures and the topical use of Chinese herbs, which is evident in the prominent role of nutrition counseling in her practice and the creation of her own line of tendon and trauma liniments.

Katie is a pain specialist, having trained in pain management at Tufts University School of Medicine and receiving a Masters of Science in addition to earning her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from the New England School of Acupuncture. Katie's passion is using acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat all facets of a patient's pain condition so that patients can improve their overall quality of life. In addition to working at KenkoDo, Katie currently holds a part-time position as a research acupuncturist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she works with a team of researchers investigating acupuncture's effect on pain modulation via functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Katie also serves as Adjunct Faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine, and recently designed her own research study investigating the effects of acupuncture on pre- and postoperative pain, which she is currently conducting at Tufts Medical Center in coordination with the Anesthesia and Orthopedic departments.
