may I take a little of your time to tell you a little of my story? If you answered yes, read on. My introduction to acupuncture was due to a traumatic accident about twenty-two years ago. I injured my left neck/shoulder/arm and sciatic nerve in 1993 so I could not work as an EMT because I could not lift any thing heavier than a loaf of bread. After trying allopathic medicine for a year, the doctors told me that I would never heal so just learn to live with what left arm and leg movement remained. That's when I decided to try massage school. My injuries did start to heal with daily treatments over a years time but I wanted more pain relief and more strength in my arm and leg so I did more research and decided to start acupuncture school. That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Not only did my left arm and leg get well and pain free, (the muscles that had atrophied returned to their pre injury size) and best of all my pain was gone! The biggest blessing of all was that I found my life's passion. I became an acupuncturist and herbalist to share this healing art with my family and friends. Meghan is a licensed acupuncturist with national board certifications in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. She received her master’s degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where she is currently obtaining a doctorate. Her clinical experience includes work at Columbia University Health Services, Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Integrative Oncology, and Housing Works. She travelled to China for advanced study at the International Acupuncture Training Center, an institute recognized by the World Health Organization, with clinical rounds at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Beijing.

Meghan continues to deepen her skills and knowledge in Eastern medicine, mind-body connection, and energy healing. Her areas of interest include women’s health and gynecological conditions, digestive disorders, stress and anxiety, and pain relief. She supports her patients wherever they are on their healing journey with compassionate listening and commitment to care. Following the Chinese principle of shenming, “radiance of spirit,” her mission is to inspire others to practice self-care and overcome dis-ease by harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.

I love doing medical acupuncture and am pleased to open my practice, Huffman Clinic, PLLC, in Davenport, Iowa, where I can serve clients in the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities and the surrounding area. I bring with me 35 years of practicing traditional western medicine in family practice and then radiology. To prepare for my practice dedicated to medical acupuncture, I did intensive training with Dr. Tsun-Nin Lee at the Academy of Pain Research. I find the integration of concepts from traditional and modern forms of acupuncture with Western medical training enables a more comprehensive approach to health care.
I appreciate the opportunity to serve clients by assisting them in achieving and maintaining wellness. My acupuncture treatments include the traditional needling, electrical stimulation, auricular stimulation and moxibustion. To this I add the modern acupuncture technologies of laser, infrared heat, and measuring energies through computer software. It gives me great pleasure to alleviate pain and illness using these modalities that are free of side-effects. I also encourage my patients to come in for regular energy readings so we can maintain balanced energies to support ongoing good health and a strong immune system.
