I am a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and a Certified Chinese herbalist. I received my Masters degree from The New York College of Health Professions in 2003 where my studies included Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, T'ai Chi Chuan and Qi gong.

Upon graduation I went on to work at Columbia University facilitating two NIH funded clinical research studies testing the efficacy of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. I recently returned to Columbia University to serve the acupuncture research community in Acupuncture for women undergoing breast cancer treatments.

My philosophical approach to treatment includes a strong emphasis on patient education. I encourage patients to actively participate in their healing process and often incorporate lifestyle changes and herbal medicine in my treatment plans. I maintain a strong commitment to the promotion of the integration of Eastern and Western medicine as a future medical model within our health care system. My specialized areas of interest and expertise include women's health and fertility, stress and pain management, and digestive disorders.

Both of the happily married couple taught graduate students at their alma mater, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine now known as Pacific College of Health Science in San Diego in a variety of classes and Mrs. Burris was the first person to be honored by their alma mater as as success in the field of TCM and acupuncture .

I have practiced acupuncture in California, in the Australia and New Zealand area, and now in the state of Washington. I have a wide range of experience treating a variety of ailments on a diverse patient population. Though my specialty is pain management, I also successfully treat internal medicine disorders such as respiratory (asthma, allergies) issues, digestive (IBS, Crohns), emotional (stress, anxiety) issues and gynecological and urinary disturbances.

I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, AcuTonics, and other natural healing modalities.

Mei believes in providing quality and caring service to those in search of a natural alternative to health improvement. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Professional Health Studies and a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine from Florida College of Integrative Medicine. This is coupled with the fact that acupuncture and Chinese Medicine were a part of her daily life, growing up.
