How Does Acupuncture Work?
A part of the conventional Chinese medical system is acupuncture. The history of this medical procedure dates back thousands of years. The main theory behind acupuncture is based on the idea that the body has patterns of energy flow called "Qi" that are thought to be crucial for wellness. The disturbance of this flow, according to the Chinese, is what causes sickness.

About:
A native of Peabody, MA, Elizabeth graduated from Mt. Ida College in 1986 and Lesley University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Art Therapy.
After several years working in public and private sectors, Elizabeth witnessed the positive impacts of acupuncture and decided to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She graduated from the oldest school in the United States, the New England School of Acupuncture and is an NCCAOM Diplomate licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, Elizabeth pursued advanced acupuncture training in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture protocol (“cosmetic acupuncture”) and Master Tung Acupuncture Style that advances patients recovery with minimal needles to bring about maximum response.
The Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture practitioner believes holistic beauty is achieved by working on the inside to most effectively change the outside appearance, allowing innate beauty to emerge. Cosmetic acupuncture system is often referred to as an “acupuncture facelift” or “Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture”, but it is much more than a “cosmetic” procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help renew your skin’s appearance while promoting a healthy mind and body. Elizabeth studied the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture system under one of its developers, Dr. Martha Lucas, PhD, LAc., Doctor of Research Psychology, nationally certified and licensed to practice TCM. Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture is also highly effective in balancing hormones that can cause acne. As a result, there is a reduction or elimination of both rosacea and acne by restoring harmony in the body and clearing "qi" blockages or nerve channels throughout the body.
Elizabeth's goal is to provide healthcare through the practical application of TCM. She looks forward to working with those in the western medical community, as well, to provide a truly holistic medical service to her patients, promoting the body’s natural healing processes.

Asheville Holistic Acupuncture is a classical Chinese medicine clinic located at 43 Grove Street, Suite 2 in downtown Asheville, NC. Tyler White, L.Ac. is a nationally board-certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist licensed in North Carolina, practicing continuously since 2015.
Tyler trained under Jeffrey Yuen — an 88th-generation Daoist priest and one of the foremost classical Chinese medicine authorities in the world — and holds a Bachelor of Science from Brown University and a Master's degree from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville. Conditions commonly treated include chronic pain, neuropathy, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, autoimmune conditions, fertility support, digestive disorders, cancer treatment support, and neurological conditions including Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.
Office hours are Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday by appointment.
Located at 43 Grove Street, Suite 2, Asheville, NC 28801.
