In the spirit of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a primary goal of Essential Health Acupuncture is to provide our patients with a broader understanding of health and more lasting sense of well-being. Sylvia Bognar, L. Ac., MSOM is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. Her first acupuncture treatment in 2009 was a life changing experience which triggered her desire to learn more about her newly found passion.
In 2010 she was accepted in the Master’s Program at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA. She completed her education and 850 clinical internship hours at Dongguk University Los Angeles, graduating
Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine.

Acupuncture, studied Acupuncture at the Swedish School of Acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy at the Eastern School of Oriental Medicine, and received classical training from world master Jeffrey Yuen. He comes from a family of Chinese medical doctors and follows his family tradition in Chinese medicine.
Michael cares for a variety of patients of all ages and needs for both acute and chronic health concerns. He is dedicated to the patient’s needs as he employs a variety of modalities in addition to acupuncture including cupping, guasha and moxabustion, as well as employing Chinese herbs. He is licensed in both New Jersey and New York.
In addition to his acupuncture and Eastern medicine education and training, Michael holds an M.B.A from Duke University.

Janice combines the best of Eastern and Western medicine. She practiced pharmacy for over 30 years and has an extensive knowledge of western medicine and pharmaceutical care. She is also a Licensed Massage therapist and incorporates that knowledge into her acupuncture treatments. Janice is nationally board certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine. She studied both Japanese and Chinese acupuncture at New England School of Acupuncture.

Robert P. Abrahamson O.M.D., L.Ac. (AZ, CA), Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine with 42 years experience in the art of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. He is both state and nationally certified, and has been working in beautiful West Sedona for the past 23 years.
Dr. Abrahamson studied in San Francisco, England, India and China. He practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as well as Tibetan, Japanese, Korean, Tung and Five Element Constitutional acupuncture.
Robert has taught Acupuncture, Shiatsu and QiGong trainings in Europe, Asia and the United States. He teaches herbal medicine on the post-graduate level, and loves to inspire his patients to take medicinal herbs.

Mrs. Sparks has over 26 years experience in acupuncture and medical research. She specializes in pain relief, including neck, shoulder, back, and joint pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica, headaches, migraines, painful menses, stroke paralysis, Bell's palsy, depression, anxiety, insomnia, hypertension, gastrointestinal issues, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, OB/Gyn disorders.

Early in Mrs. Sparks' career she worked under the supervision of Zunxin Guan, one of foremost acupuncture experts in Yunan, China. Later on Mrs. Sparks was a principal clinical researcher running projects funded by China's Bureau of Traditional Chinese medicine and material medica. Mrs. Sparks also worked seven years at the University of Cincinnati College of medicine in cardiology research. Overall she has been involved in Acupuncture practice, Chinese herbal medicine, and biomedical research more than 26 years.
