History

Established in 1996.

Ahna earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the U. of Utah in Salt Lake City. Her course of study was ballet, jazz and modern dance. She also studied the medical sciences as they pertain to the body such as anatomy, biology, kineseology, chemistry. She had an exciting career as a dancer and performed on the Sony and Cher Show at the CBS Studios in Hollywood. She also performed with the Gloria Newman Dance Company and various other dancing jobs traveling to Japan and Canada. At her 20 year high school reunion she did an examination of her life and realized she wanted to be a Doctor like her father. After considering Radiology and Chiropractic - she toured the campus of Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA and immediately fell in love with this powerful healing art. She graduated Cum Laude in 1996, passed her National Boards and moved to Sedona, Az where she obtained her Acupuncture License. She has enjoyed a successful private practice ever since.

Living Room Acupuncture opened it’s doors in 2011 to served the needs of Downtown Miami residents and workers. The clinic was founded by Rafael Perez, a native of Miami Florida. The clinic was designed to be an oasis of tranquility within the hustle and bustle of the city. The goal of the clinic is to engage the natural healing ability within each client using ancient and modern healing techniques.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, disease contains two parts analogous to the roots and branches of a tree. The symptoms are like branches, and if you only treat them, the same roots will soon grow the same symptoms again. To effectively heal, one must address the root cause of the of illness so the tree may grow healthy branches. Additionally, two people may both experience a similar disease but have very different underlying root causes. Likewise, two others may have very different diseases but have the same root cause. At Rooted Medicine, Andrea Hingst L.Ac. MSOM, draws from experiences in integrated hospitals and private practice to combine traditional Chinese therapies with modern functional medicine to identify each individual’s unique foundational imbalance to heal from the roots up.
