I am an accomplished alternative healthcare professional, with over 22 years of hands on experience in the bodywork field. I am passionate about acupuncture because of what it has done for me personally, and the positive results that I have witnessed for so many of my patients. It is important to me as your practitioner, to provide a treatment plan that is unique to you, and supports your health goals. I usually ask that you commit to 3 treatments. Generally, results are experienced by then. At that time we will re-evaluate and determine which course of action is best.
I have been a licensed acupuncturist since 2003. My training includes TCM, Japanese and Acupuncture Physical Medicine. APM is a unique needle technique taught at Tri-State College. This technique uses a motion that releases muscle constriction and trigger points, thereby promoting the free flow of Qi. My experience includes treating a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to anxiety, depression, muscular conditions, sciatica, neck and back pain, tendonitis, asthma, headaches, neuropathy, sleep disorders, skin conditions and fertility. Primarily I use needles, but may also use cupping, guasha, and massage. I have experience with adults as well as children. I also take no-fault insurance and participate in some private insurances.

About:
I am always astounded by how resilient the human body is, and most of the time we do not appreciate it until there is a barrier that is preventing us from feeling optimal. For those of you that have had a sports related injury or any physical injury, there are times where you will surprise yourself with how quickly you can recover. I have personally used acupuncture to benefit physical endurance, alignment, and rehabilitation in exercise and my maintenance of overall health. Not only do acupuncture and herbs help to keep you looking and feeling good, regular treatments can also help to keep your immune system strong throughout the year!
I grew up drinking the herbal teas my mother used to make for my sister and me. She always told me that this was the way of taking care of the body, as these Chinese herbal remedies were passed down to her from my ancestors. I always doubted her until I decided to go to school to satiate my curiosity of my Chinese heritage and of alternative forms of medicine.
I have always been interested in medicine and finished my bachelors in microbiology and clinical laboratory science with hopes of going to medical school. After doing some research at Miami University about Aloe vera and its medicinal properties, and with some inspiration from my family, I made plans to pursue graduate studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. So far my journey to San Diego has opened my eyes to the benefits of both Eastern and Western medicines, which has also blessed me with the rewarding ability to help others. I am truly grateful for all the wonderful people that I have met along the way!
I am a huge supporter of preventative medicine and aging gracefully by living a healthy lifestyle. Some of my favorite hobbies include yoga, running, traveling, cooking with friends, and learning about different cultures around me. I want to support you in what you love to do, especially if you want to live a better quality of life. I will tailor my treatments to your specific needs, and we will use realistic approaches to achieve results. I want to be part of your health and "feel-good" team.
I believe when you treat your body well and with respect, it will reward you a thousand-fold!
I invite you to come in and make an appointment with me. I would love to meet you and help you discover how acupuncture can change your life.

I’m Dr. Shannon Freeman, D.Ac., L.Ac., Eastern Medicine Practitioner. I am a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians (Ojibwe/Cree/Metis) in Belcourt, ND. I then became a Licensed Massage Practitioner studying under Zdenka Daucik, a European physiotherapist who incorporated specific, long-lasting, deep treatment work into her practice. I received my Eastern Medicine Practitioner License in 2013. I recently received my Doctorate of Acupuncture from Five Branches University, researching allopathic and Eastern Medicine treatment of Lyme Disease, Epstein Bar, long-haul post-Covid, and any other treatment protocols using acupuncture and supporting healing methods. I am currently in a two-year Doctor of Chinese Energetic Medicine Program (D.C.E.M.) awarded by Bian Hua Gong (The Temple of Change and Transformation) Daoist Temple.
The most common patient complaints are pain, emotional issues, fertility, adrenal fatigue, and exhaustion. Through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I provide Chinese medicine diagnoses, acupuncture, and other TCM modalities applicable to the patient’s condition.
My holistic approach includes creating patient-specific ongoing post-treatment goals and recommendations, including nutritional, dietary, lifestyle, and exercise recommendations for orthopedic issues, pain reduction, and improved function. I believe that combining Western and Eastern Medicine is optimal for a patient to heal.
