Sandy Root, AP, L.Ac., MSTOM, a FL & NY State Licensed Acupuncturist, graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York with her Master’s in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2009.
Sandy had clinical experience practicing acupuncture at the Saint Vincent’s Hospital -HIV Clinic, the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases – Initiative for Women with Disabilities, NYU Medical Center, and Pacific College Acupuncture Clinic, and now her own practice in Miami Beach, FL. She is also certified in Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.
Sandy loves to integrate the science, art, and wisdom of acupuncture into her practice. Sarah became interested in acupuncture as a career during high school. She chose to study physiology at the Lyman Brigg's School of Michigan State University. After undergrad, Sarah continued her education at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR. She spent 3 full years learning Chinese Medicine, including anatomy, physiology, Chinese medical theory, western pathology, acupuncture, Chinese herbology, nutrition, shiatsu massage, taichi,
and qigong. She also completed a 1 year internship in her last year of school, where she studied under both Chinese and Western acupuncturists and herbalists. She completed her qigong training with a certification to teach 1000 Hands Buddha Qigong.

My career began as a Registered Nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where I specialized in Med/Surgical nursing and later Psychiatric nursing when I received my Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of Maryland. My graduate degree in Nursing was a natural first step into the holistic approach and philosophy of my graduate degree in Chinese Medicine. I blend my vast nursing background into my acupuncture treatments as I treat a wide variety of physical and emotional/spiritual issues.
I have effectively treated anxiety, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, depression, skin disorders, fibromyalgia, menopausal and menstrual disorders, TMJ, infertility and back/neck/shoulder pain, just to name few.
I hold a Masters degree in Acupuncture and I am Licensed and Nationally Certified with NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine – Public Protection Through Quality Credentials).
