Johnson’s interest in acupuncture and herbal medicine grew from his practice of martial arts. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from UC Berkeley and Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2002.

Johnson is a licensed acupuncturist with over 12 years experience in treating musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries. He has worked with athletes of all levels ranging from high school, college and professional sports.

He continues to update and renew his passion in traditional medicine with his ongoing trips to China and other parts of the world to learn and incorporate the natural medicine of different cultures into his practice.

I am a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Arizona. I began studying TCM theory at The Won Institute in Philadelphia, PA before transitioning forward into the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL.

My primary lens to treatment is Five Element, which focuses on healing through a re-alignment with authenticity and integrity. Globally we are witnessing the environmental repercussions of nature being overtaxed. Five Element explores the idea that the nature around us is also reflected inside us. It asks with consideration where our individual constitutions are over-functioning or compromised and redirects energy to restore balance.

I am a white practitioner utilizing a wellness practice outside of my culture. I decided to pursue acupuncture professionally after experiencing the depth of its influence. My offering is one of attunement, curiosity, thoughtfulness, and presence. My intention is to support clients in experiencing greater connectivity and peace inside their bodies and lives. During his four years as a pre-med student, he worked as an assistant and apprentice to acupuncture and naturopathic doctors, graduating from various programs in Eastern and Western styles of manual therapies including naprapathy. After completing his undergraduate degree in public health, he went on to graduate from both a masters and doctoral program at one of the country's top natural medicine colleges in Portland, Oregon. As a doctoral fellow he was an acupuncturist intern at Oregon Health Sciences University Pain Center. He was also an intern at a World Health Organization (WHO) integrative medicine hospital in Nanjing, China. Since then, he's traveled the globe learning new techniques to help others with natural options for their healthcare. Dr. McCormick has completed apprenticeships and post-graduate clinical work with naturopathic physicians, naprapaths, medical doctors, osteopaths, Oriental and Ayrvedic medicine doctors along with various other world renowned practitioners in the natural medicine field. He is motivated by a desire to provide complementary care including alternatives to surgery and drugs. Dr. McCormick's practice provides several natural therapy options that address a wide range of health and wellness concerns. His practice serves Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Rapid City, South Dakota.
