Bronxville Acupuncture is a quiet, serene acupuncture studio in the village of
Bronxville. Sharon McIlwaine, licensed acupuncturist, has been treating clients for
20 years for a multitude of issues including all types of pain and discomfort
including back pain, neck stiffness and pain, hip and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel,
tennis elbow, headaches, migraines, anxiety, insomnia, women’s issues including PMS,
irregular cycles and menopausal complaints as well as many other issues too numerous
to name. Acupuncture is also an excellent modality for supporting athletes with
nagging or recurring injuries and is a great tool for optimizing overall health and

My journey as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner started in 1994 when I met a monk in Taiwan who taught me about meditation, cleansing, food healing, calligraphy and Chinese health practices. For 10 years, I travelled around the world studying natural healing and classical Asian martial arts from various masters, healers and schools.

I graduated from the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in British Columbia with a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, modelled after the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine curriculum.

I’ve been in clinic practice for over 10 years in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. I am a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioners and Acupuncturists in Ontario under the following number: 2807. I currently see patients at The Village Clinic in Westboro.

I teach weekly Qigong and Chen Style Tai Chi classes at Aylmer Qigong and Tai Chi and I hold regular at workshops, lectures, webinars and events on health and well-being.

I also lecture and write on child developmental psychology and behaviour using traditional Chinese medicine. I am the author of the book Democratic Parenting and the creator of The ADHD Transformation Program.

I have advanced training in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Therapy, Dietary Recommendations, Qigong/Tai Chi, and Traditional Chinese Medical Psychology.
