may I take a little of your time to tell you a little of my story? If you answered yes, read on. My introduction to acupuncture was due to a traumatic accident about twenty-two years ago. I injured my left neck/shoulder/arm and sciatic nerve in 1993 so I could not work as an EMT because I could not lift any thing heavier than a loaf of bread. After trying allopathic medicine for a year, the doctors told me that I would never heal so just learn to live with what left arm and leg movement remained. That's when I decided to try massage school. My injuries did start to heal with daily treatments over a years time but I wanted more pain relief and more strength in my arm and leg so I did more research and decided to start acupuncture school. That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Not only did my left arm and leg get well and pain free, (the muscles that had atrophied returned to their pre injury size) and best of all my pain was gone! The biggest blessing of all was that I found my life's passion. I became an acupuncturist and herbalist to share this healing art with my family and friends. There are many reasons why people choose acupuncture but the main reason is that acupuncture can treat the body as a whole. By this we mean that not only can acupuncture treat the main complaint but you will find that other problem ailments will start to diminish as the treatment progresses. Dr. Dale Dugas AP DOM MAOM Dipl. OM , is a board-certified Florida state licensed Acupuncture Physician/Doctor of Oriental Medicine(AP/DOM) as well as a board- certified Chinese Herbalist. He is licensed from the Florida Department of Health.
Dr. Dugas attended the New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest school of Chinese Medicine in the USA.
He earned a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine(MAOM). Following graduation, he passed his national board exams for Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He was subsequently granted Diplomat of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) status from The National Certification Commission of Acupuncture Medicine (NCCAOM), and recently was granted licensure in Florida as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine/Acupuncture Physician.
Dr. Dugas’ interest in Asian medicinal practices arose in the late 1980s, while he was living in Northern Japan. He lived in Northern Japan through the 1990s. During this time, he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Earlham College, his focus on Japanese Studies.
Dr. Dugas has over 36 years of continuous training in Chinese, Chinese/Okinawan, and Japanese martial arts systems.
He achieved a Shodan(1st degree Black Belt) in Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Karate-do at the age 16. He is well versed in Southern Short Hand systems such as South Mantis, and Bak Mei Pai Kung Fu as well as being a licensed instructor of Baguazhang. He was first introduced to the complexities of the Chinese internal arts( Hsing-Yi Chuan, Baguazhang, Taijiquan), and various Qi Gong methods under Shifu Kwan Sai Hung, best known as the protagonist in the book, The Wandering Taoist.
He is currently working in Florida as a licensed Acupuncture Physician/Chinese Herbalist at Jade Tree Wellness Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He looks forward to furthering research on Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Chinese Martial Arts(Jook Lun Gee Tong Long Pai, Baguazhang, Taijiquan), Tieh Sha Zhang Gong (Iron Palm) and Tieh Bu Shan Gong (Iron Vest) training, Shuai Jiao(Chinese Wrestling) and Kam Na/Chin-Na (Throwing and Grappling) and Dit Da Ke (Chinese trauma medicine).

Our husband and wife dynamic duo have been practicing Traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine and acupuncture since 2001. Ms. Burris is completing her dual doctorate in 2024 in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Mr. Burris has two additional years of training in martial arts, meditation and medical massage from the Taoist Sanctuary in San Diego. Ms. Burris was featured as “The Babymaker” on the cover of HERLIFE magazine and was honored by Evergreen herbs as one of their Top doctors in the U.S.. Both of the happily married couple taught graduate students at their alma mater, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine now known as Pacific College of Health Science in San Diego in a variety of classes and Mrs. Burris was the first person to be honored by their alma mater as as success in the field of TCM and acupuncture .
