I am a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and a Certified Chinese herbalist. I received my Masters degree from The New York College of Health Professions in 2003 where my studies included Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, T'ai Chi Chuan and Qi gong.
Upon graduation I went on to work at Columbia University facilitating two NIH funded clinical research studies testing the efficacy of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. I recently returned to Columbia University to serve the acupuncture research community in Acupuncture for women undergoing breast cancer treatments.
My philosophical approach to treatment includes a strong emphasis on patient education. I encourage patients to actively participate in their healing process and often incorporate lifestyle changes and herbal medicine in my treatment plans. I maintain a strong commitment to the promotion of the integration of Eastern and Western medicine as a future medical model within our health care system. My specialized areas of interest and expertise include women's health and fertility, stress and pain management, and digestive disorders.

I am a CA state licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist specializing in women’s health care, with an emphasis on fertility enhancement and pregnancy care. I graduated from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine where I also served on the faculty. I enjoy helping my clients experience greater health and balance through gentle acupuncture, lifestyle and nutritional counseling, and Chinese herbal medicine. Acupuncture, studied Acupuncture at the Swedish School of Acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy at the Eastern School of Oriental Medicine, and received classical training from world master Jeffrey Yuen. He comes from a family of Chinese medical doctors and follows his family tradition in Chinese medicine.
Michael cares for a variety of patients of all ages and needs for both acute and chronic health concerns. He is dedicated to the patient’s needs as he employs a variety of modalities in addition to acupuncture including cupping, guasha and moxabustion, as well as employing Chinese herbs. He is licensed in both New Jersey and New York.
In addition to his acupuncture and Eastern medicine education and training, Michael holds an M.B.A from Duke University.
Michael has appointment availability during weekdays and evenings as well as on Saturday mornings.

Sandy Root, AP, L.Ac., MSTOM, a FL & NY State Licensed Acupuncturist, graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York with her Master’s in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2009.
Sandy had clinical experience practicing acupuncture at the Saint Vincent’s Hospital -HIV Clinic, the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases – Initiative for Women with Disabilities, NYU Medical Center, and Pacific College Acupuncture Clinic, and now her own practice in Miami Beach, FL.
