Here at our Rockville, MD acupuncture center, we specialize in a different style of acupuncture therapy, not widely available. This method is more than 2000 years old and comes from the I Ching, one of the oldest books in the world. Marcia is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her doctoral work specialized in Family Medicine with an emphasis in pain management and mental health. Her internship began at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2005, after graduation in 2008 she went into private practice treating a wide range of ages and health concerns. She holds a national diplomatic certificate in Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as well as a California, Ohio and Illinois state license. She has recently moved to Chicago to open a private practice and looks forward to providing the best patient care possible and to becoming a productive member of the West Loop community.

Shannon Caperton, L.Ac was inspired to become an acupuncturist after witnessing the power of this type of medicine. It improved the health of family members struggling with health issues and who were bereft of relief using standard medical care.
She attended graduate school at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago where she earned her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine. During her time in Chicago she was privileged to work in underserved communities at the Project Vida clinic in the Little Villages neighborhood on the city’s west side, as well as at Chicago Women's Health Center. In addition to these experiences, she worked extensively in the school’s student clinic, which prepared her for working with a diverse population and gave her the experience to treat a wide variety of disorders.
