South Baylo University (SBU) clinics are dedicated on providing the highest quality of clinical education to the interns. SBU interns are trained to conduct standardized procedures, identify medical emergency situations, and develop treatment protocols for patients. Interns are educated to explain major concepts and theories of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM). Interns will perform, along with the guidance of a supervisor, AOM diagnostic methods, formulate, implement, monitor, and adapt acupuncture treatment plans.

SBU's goal is to train primary care practitioners in the field of AOM who will demonstrate competencies in patient care and comply with ethical, legal, safety guidelines, and communicate effectively in diverse and multicultural settings.

I have practiced acupuncture in California, in the Australia and New Zealand area, and now in the state of Washington. I have a wide range of experience treating a variety of ailments on a diverse patient population. Though my specialty is pain management, I also successfully treat internal medicine disorders such as respiratory (asthma, allergies) issues, digestive (IBS, Crohns), emotional (stress, anxiety) issues and gynecological and urinary disturbances.

Carmen E. Jiménez is a bilingual (Spanish) Holistic Medicine Practitioner with a Master’s in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University (Los Angeles, CA) and a Bachelor's of Arts from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). She is licensed by the State of Florida Department of Health as a Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, and is qualified to provide Acupoint Injection Therapy and is certified Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for AcupunctureOriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Carmen has trained in various advanced techniques in Functional Physiology and Bio-Energetic Medicine. These include Total Body Modification, Natural Healing Systems and Functional Nutrition, to name a few.

​Prior to becoming a Holistic Medicine Practitioner, Carmen managed and helped develop clinical trials for pharmaceuitcal companies, domestic and internationally. She has an extensive experience studying the effects of prescription medications on the body and this knowledge motivated her to pursue a change in careers.

Carmen is passionate about self-empowerment through healing and believes that the power that made the body also heals the body. Because of her unique and diverse training, Carmen is able to provide comprehensive treatments that integrate Western Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine.

That’s what wellness is, and that’s what I love to help others achieve.”

When Melinda is not treating patients, you will most likely find her in the ocean with her family on the Seacoast of NH. Melinda is an avid surfer (yes, even during the New England winters!), certified yoga teacher, and lifelong athlete. She possesses an innate appreciation of the importance of developing and maintaining a strong and healthy body and mind.

As a licensed Acupuncturist, Melinda blends the best of both eastern and western medicine. In addition to her education and clinical experience, Melinda spent over a decade training doctors in medical devices and robotic surgical technology. As a result, she has an excellent foundation and appreciation for western medicine, while recognizing the importance of comprehensive, integrative care for patients. Compelled by helping others, she made the decision to leave her career and become a healthcare provider herself. Melinda chose the field of Acupuncture because it gives her the unique opportunity to provide personalized, holistic, patient-centered care.

Melinda Ferreira is a nationally board-certified Diplomate of Acupuncture, and is licensed to practice in the state of NH. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters Degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture at MCPHS University. During her 3 years of training, she completed clinical internships at Massachusetts General Hospital, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Cambridge Health Alliance, MCPHS University, and Element Care Senior Clinic. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine.

Toni Twitty is an Acupuncture physician who practices Acupuncture in Edmond, OK. Toni specializes in pain conditions, fertility issues, and digestion.

She attended the Universita degli Studi di Urbino, the Universita degli Studi di Pavia, and the Universita degli Studi di Firenze prior to graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Forensic Anthropology. She then obtained a Master’s degree in Acupuncture in 2013 from the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL after she completed over 3,000 hours of education and year-long residency in Acupuncture.

Dr. Toni is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. Toni began her career as an Acupuncturist at Valir Health and later decided to create Be Well Acupuncture. She is one of very few Master’s Degree holding Acupuncturists in OKC or Edmond, OK and is the only Acupuncturist practicing Five Element Acupuncture in the Oklahoma City Metro area. She uses a variety of complementary modalities including Acupuncture, guasha, tuina, cupping, and Acutonics. She has successfully treated a variety of health concerns including, stress, insomnia, back pain, migraines, allergies, digestive issues, neck and shoulder pain, women’s health issues, and much more.

She is dedicated to working with patients in a professional and compassionate manner in order to bring them back to health.

Dr. Toni lives in Guthrie with her husband Brian, her two beautiful step-daughters, and their 4 crazy dogs. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, participating in the girls’ extracurricular activities, CrossFit, and cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers.
