His degree combined both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. As a part of his course, he attended an internship at Shanghai Shuguang Hospital, China. This experience helped to see Chinese medicine integrated with modern medicine.

Dr. Christine Adamo is an integrative oncology specialist. She practices functional medicine, herbal medicine, nutrition, natural supplementation, and acupuncture. Her training is in internal medicine and her passion is in integrative oncology, providing specialized care for patients with cancer. Mrs. Sparks has over 26 years experience in acupuncture and medical research. Later on Mrs. Sparks was a principal clinical researcher running projects funded by China's Bureau of Traditional Chinese medicine and material medica. Mrs. Sparks also worked seven years at the University of Cincinnati College of medicine in cardiology research. Overall she has been involved in Acupuncture practice, Chinese herbal medicine, and biomedical research more than 26 years.
