How Does Acupuncture Work?

A part of the conventional Chinese medical system is acupuncture. The history of this medical procedure dates back thousands of years. The main theory behind acupuncture is based on the idea that the body has patterns of energy flow called "Qi" that are thought to be crucial for wellness. The disturbance of this flow, according to the Chinese, is what causes sickness.

About:
Equilibrium Acupuncture uses the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine to treat our clients holistically.

With acupuncture clinics near Brisbane City, Holland Park and Cleveland, we treat people who are looking for a safe, effective alternative to mainstream medicine.

While most new clients come to us for traditional acupuncture treatments, we also offer a wide range of acupuncture treatments:

- Traditional acupuncture based on inserting fine, sterile needles in key acupuncture points.
- Gua Sha which works by scraping the skin to improve blood flow and speed up healing.
- Moxibustion using smouldering herbs to heat the acupuncture points and stimulate blood flow.
- Cupping which stimulates the blood flow, loosens muscles, releases toxins from the tissues and alleviates pain. Cupping is becoming more frequently requested because of its growing popularity with celebrities, both in Australia and globally

Acupuncture addresses the whole person including the physical, spiritual and emotional levels. At Equilibrium Acupuncture we aim to get to the root of your problem and treat the cause rather than just the symptoms.

Acupuncture is a safe treatment for a wide variety of diagnosed problems or for people who aren’t quite sure what’s causing their symptoms. Whatever your condition, we can advise you on the best acupuncture or alternative Chinese medicine treatment for your problem, be it physical or emotional.

Our philosophy centres on using acupuncture as a wellness tool to help improve and maintain your health.

We’re happy to talk about your problems, questions or concerns before you make a booking and will never take on a new client if we don’t think we can help you.

To find out more about how acupuncture could benefit you, or to make a booking at our Brisbane City, Holland Park or Cleveland acupuncture clinics, call us on now on 0408497513 or email us today to get the conversation started.

About:
At High Country Doctor, you'll find a natural medicine practice run by the compassionate and skilled practitioner, Dr. Terence McCormick. It all started in the New York City area in 80's when Dr. McCormick was completing undergraduate coursework in biochemistry and other pre-medical studies. During his four years as a pre-med student, he worked as an assistant and apprentice to acupuncture and naturopathic doctors, graduating from various programs in Eastern and Western styles of manual therapies including naprapathy. After completing his undergraduate degree in public health, he went on to graduate from both a masters and doctoral program at one of the country's top natural medicine colleges in Portland, Oregon. As a doctoral fellow he was an acupuncturist intern at Oregon Health Sciences University Pain Center. He was also an intern at a World Health Organization (WHO) integrative medicine hospital in Nanjing, China. Since then, he's traveled the globe learning new techniques to help others with natural options for their healthcare. Dr. McCormick has completed apprenticeships and post-graduate clinical work with naturopathic physicians, naprapaths, medical doctors, osteopaths, Oriental and Ayrvedic medicine doctors along with various other world renowned practitioners in the natural medicine field. He is motivated by a desire to provide complementary care including alternatives to surgery and drugs. Dr. McCormick's practice provides several natural therapy options that address a wide range of health and wellness concerns. His practice serves Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Rapid City, South Dakota. We are one of the most highly-qualified and experienced natural family health care practices in the region.

Since 1989, patients have trusted our practice with evidence-based natural healthcare using modern, traditional, and Asian and Western modalities, such as acupuncture, naturopathy, naprapathy, trigger point dry needling, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic herbal treatments, manual therapies and nutritional medicine. Dr. McCormick is a doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (DAOM) with extensive graduate training in numerous naturopathic therapies and offers them as part of his natural medicine practice. He specializes in individually customized treatment programs for pain management, injury care, overall health, healing, detoxification, and longevity. He works with both kids and adults of all ages.
