In the spirit of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a primary goal of Essential Health Acupuncture is to provide our patients with a broader understanding of health and more lasting sense of well-being. Instead of a disease-centered focus, Traditional Chinese Medicine applies a patient-centered approach that addresses the whole person rather than simply his/her symptoms.

Essential Health Acupuncture combines the disciplines of modern science with the wisdom of ancient healing and takes advantage of the knowledge of several disciplines including, acupunture, tui na (Chinese body work), cupping therapy, diet/nutrition education, physical, mental and emotional health, and Chinese herbology. Other medical modalities that are being utilized are also taken into account to provide the utmost care for the individual. This allows patient and provider to work together to develop an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic plan that will best address the whole patient.

I am a licensed acupuncturist, advocate of women's health, lover of plants and animals. I believe in reducing stress and increasing happiness. I love my job.

As an acupuncturist, I provide more than just acupuncture. I like to use my hands and cupping when muscles and tendons are sore or injured. John K. Miller, MAOM, L.Ac, is a licensed acupuncturist practicing in New York City. A graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture, John earned a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Since 2006, he has studied with Tom Tam, learning Tong Ren, Tom Tam’s Healing System. He practices Tai Qi, yoga, Qi Gong, Pang Gu and meditation. For exercise, John runs regularly in Central Park, practices Hatha Yoga, commutes throughout the city on his bicycle and is an avid telemark skier.

John was born and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he pursued a professional basketball career in Europe. Following his athletic career, John spent a decade in India, offering his service at an international not-for-profit Charitable Trust. During his stay, he studied India’s indigenous system of medicine, Ayurveda. He returned to the United States to study Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in Boston. His teachers include Master Ou Wen Wei, Paul Fraser and Ken Wong.

Vita-Health Acupuncture & Wellness Center is an acupuncture clinic in Pembroke Pines, FL that was founded in 2005 by David and Yelena Pakula, husband and wife acupuncturists. David and Yelena are both Florida licensed Acupuncture Physicians who are Board Certified by the NCCAOM as Diplomats of Oriental Medicine. They each earned a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Together, David and Yelena have completed advanced post-graduate acupuncture training. They successfully completed a 150-hour certification training program in advanced Japanese Acupuncture & Moxibustion techniques in the tradition of Kiiko Matsumoto & Master Nagano. They completed advanced training in Tung style acupuncture and are officers of the World Tung Acupuncture Association, representing the organization in Florida. They also have studied Chinese medicine and philosophy with Daoist master Jeffrey Yuen.
Yelena Pakula was a Medical Doctor in St. Petersburg, Russia, specializing in neurology, osteopathy and acupuncture.
