Bret came to Traditional Chinese Medicine through his practice of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. He began studying martial arts and instantly felt drawn to the forms the body made in Tai Chi. The deliberate movements, the focus on qi, resonated with him and he quickly delved into the practice. As his interest matured, the academic within him began to yearn for the a deeper understanding of what was happening within these practices.
After graduation from The AOMA School of Integrative Medicine he stayed in Austin for many years to continue to hone his practice and his love of teaching. He studied Distal Needling and the Balance Method extensively, as well a Japanese Meridian Therapy and Hari Style Acupuncture with Koei Kurohawa. He is NADA certified through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association and was on Faculty at AOMA for three years working for the Biomedical Department and Acupuncture Techniques Department. He also taught qigong in the Austin area since 2010, working with at risk groups.
