A native of Peabody, MA, Elizabeth graduated from Mt. Ida College in 1986 and Lesley University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Art Therapy.
After several years working in public and private sectors, Elizabeth witnessed the positive impacts of acupuncture and decided to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She graduated from the oldest school in the United States, the New England School of Acupuncture and is an NCCAOM Diplomate licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, Elizabeth pursued advanced acupuncture training in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture protocol (“cosmetic acupuncture”) and Master Tung Acupuncture Style that advances patients recovery with minimal needles to bring about maximum response.
The Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture practitioner believes holistic beauty is achieved by working on the inside to most effectively change the outside appearance, allowing innate beauty to emerge. Cosmetic acupuncture system is often referred to as an “acupuncture facelift” or “Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture”, but it is much more than a “cosmetic” procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help renew your skin’s appearance while promoting a healthy mind and body. Elizabeth studied the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture system under one of its developers, Dr. Martha Lucas, PhD, LAc., Doctor of Research Psychology, nationally certified and licensed to practice TCM. She completed a 3-year Masters-level acupuncture program at the former Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Bethesda, MD), which included a year of Chinese herbal medicine training as well as study in China at a summer acupuncture course at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in 2002. She has a doctorate in Anthropology from the University at Buffalo where she studied the transnational flow of Chinese Medicine and conducted ethnographic fieldwork at the European Institute of Oriental Medicine in Munich, Germany. She completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in patient safety at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She currently is a part-time instructor for the Department of Medical Behavioral Science at the University of Kentucky, where she is a behavioral science preceptor for first-year medical students.
