Lisa Blake practices using both Chinese and Japanese style acupuncture as well as Chinese Herbs. She received her Masters of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture and is nationally Board certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Lisa is also certified in Auricular Acupuncture through the Auriculotherapy Certification Institute, Inc. Lisa studied Biology and Chemistry to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and also has a Master of Business Administration from Averett University.
Prior to attending acupuncture school Lisa worked for almost 20 years in the Federal Reserve System, and during that time realized that she wanted to spend her time working in a profession that could touch more people’s lives in a way that they could really appreciate. Then through her own health challenges she discovered acupuncture and the rest is history. Lisa’s health journey has given her great insight into how people can feel when there is a health challenge and can no longer do the things they love to do. may I take a little of your time to tell you a little of my story? If you answered yes, read on. My introduction to acupuncture was due to a traumatic accident about twenty-two years ago. I injured my left neck/shoulder/arm and sciatic nerve in 1993 so I could not work as an EMT because I could not lift any thing heavier than a loaf of bread. After trying allopathic medicine for a year, the doctors told me that I would never heal so just learn to live with what left arm and leg movement remained. That's when I decided to try massage school. My injuries did start to heal with daily treatments over a years time but I wanted more pain relief and more strength in my arm and leg so I did more research and decided to start acupuncture school. That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Not only did my left arm and leg get well and pain free, (the muscles that had atrophied returned to their pre injury size) and best of all my pain was gone! The biggest blessing of all was that I found my life's passion. I became an acupuncturist and herbalist to share this healing art with my family and friends.
